Each year the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) conducts several Drug TakeBack Days to address a crucial public safety and public health issue.
According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
The DEA’s TakeBack Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
The next TakeBack Day is scheduled for October 26th and on that day you can drop off the unwanted, unused or expired prescription medications for safe disposal.
The Juno Beach Police Department is an authorized DEA TakeBack Day drop-off point and a police officer will be on duty from 10am to 2pm in the Police Headquarters lobby to receive any items dropped off.
